Volunteers for aid groups have created a huge peace sign on a Greek island out of thousands of life jackets to spread a new year’s message of hope.

Volunteers for aid groups supporting Syrian refugees in Greece have come together to create a message of peace out of the life jackets the refugees left behind.

The volunteers are working on Lesbos, a Greek island where more than 500,000 refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq have landed after crossing the Mediterranean Sea.

These refugees have left behind thousands of life jackets, which have grown into a huge rubbish dump on the island.

"The dump site stands as a statue, a silent reminder of the risks and that so many more still hold out hope of a safe crossing," Greenpeace said. "It also includes the life jackets of those who never made it, of those who lost their lives at sea and can never return home or continue their journey north."

The more than 100 people combed through the dump site on the first day of the new year, and plucked out more than 3,000 life jackets to make the peace sign.

This is really cute.

This stuffed bunny was found over the weekend by staff at the Adare Manor Hotel in Adare, Ireland. "I lost my owner at breakfast in Adare Manor ?," they wrote on Facebook.

The initial photo got a lot more shares than usual for the hotel's page, so the staff decided to have a little fun while they attempted to reconnect the bunny with its owner.

"Have to stay in Adare Manor tonight, hopefully my owner will come to collect me tomorrow ?"

"We decided to keep it going," a spokesperson for the hotel told BuzzFeed News. "We thought Facebook was a great way to get the word out there."

The staff didn't know the bunny's name so they were just referring to him as "Bunny", but they figured the stuffed animal was left behind after a local wedding.
