You Can Make Group Calls In Facebook Messenger Now

If you're the kind of person who loves a late night conference call with your buds, but hate all the new apps that value text over good old vocal chords, you're in luck.
Starting today, Facebook is rolling out group calling for its Messenger app. The feature is set to roll out to all users over the next 24 hours on both iOS and Android. Facebook Messenger head David Marcus announced the new feature in a post on Wednesday.
The feature reportedly works the exact same way as voice calls on Messenger now, with one extra step: After tapping the phone icon, the caller can select who from the group to include in the call. Sources in position to know tell BuzzFeed News that Facebook is limiting the number of simultaneous callers to 50. As of last year, Facebook Messenger was responsible for 10% of all mobile voice calls made over the internet.

The Canadian Government Says It Will Introduce A Bill To Legalize Marijuana Next Year
On her first 4/20 as Canada's health minister, Jane Philpott announced the government would be introducing a bill to legalize marijuana next spring.

Philpott was speaking at the United Nations in New York on Wednesday as part of a special session on drugs.
She didn't offer many more details during her speech, the Canadian Press reported.
Later, Philpott released a statement that didn't explicitly mention marijuana legalization, but said that drug policy "requires collaborative action and a strong emphasis on public health that includes upstream prevention, compassionate treatment, harm reduction and support for recovery."
The Liberal government was elected in the fall in part on a promise to legalize and regulate marijuana.
Meanwhile, a couple thousand people are expected to blaze on Parliament Hill on Wednesday afternoon as part of the yearly 4/20 celebrations.

The Cast Of "The Color Purple" Sang A Powerful Version Of "Purple Rain" In Tribute To Prince
Prince was a friend and had recently invited the cast to an event, star Jennifer Hudson told the audience Thursday night.
The cast of Broadway's The Color Purple gathered on stage Thursday night for an inspiring tribute to music legend Prince, who died earlier in the day.
At the end of the musical, Jennifer Hudson told the audience that Prince had recently invited the cast to an event.
"We had the honor to be in his presence one last time," Hudson said. "We got to have that moment."
Hudson added that Prince had said he would always live on through his music.
"We want to keep him alive today," she said to the crowd, encouraging them to join in.

Mark Kirk On GOP Convention: "I've Got To Really Do My Hair That Week"

Republican Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois isn't touching the coming Republican convention with a 10-foot pole.
"I've got to really do my hair that week," Kirk said on ROE CONN on WGN radio when asked about his plans to skip the convention. "Make sure that my hair is just perfect."
"I'll be back home in Illinois, talking to the people of Illinois, and running for re-election, very much focusing on Illinois and its issues and not hanging out with those 16 jamoke's who are running for president," continued the Illinois senator, who is racing an uphill re-election battle.
The senator remarked that Trump's nomination would be a "riverboat gamble" he wanted to avoid.
"It's mainly just to focus on the issues at hand and make sure that everybody who is leaning every which way with the riverboat gamble that comes with the Trump candidacy and to make sure that I can focus on just Illinois, only Illinois, and completely my state only," he said.
The senator said he wasn't coordinating with the Republican National Committee, either.
"I actually don't see what particular good the RNC adds to the equation," stated Kirk, saying he wanted to be bi-partisan in solutions.
