Surprise your friends and dependents by blowing your wad on booze that could buy a house.
The 1811 cognacs are also known as the “comet vintage”, since the Great Comet was up in the sky for 260 days out of that year. A lot of superstitious people think the comet is what made the cognac so good, which is why you’ll have to sacrifice a few paychecks for a bottle. For a cheaper alternative, look for booze bottled during the Substantially Less Impressive Comet.
Brandies may dominate the expensive alcohol market, but don’t go thinking that $200 for Johnnie Walker Blue is the most you can shell out for whiskey. This vintage comes in a one-of-a kind bottle, and was born right as the Linkwood-Glenlivet company was founded. It’s the priciest taste of Scotland you can find, right after Loch Ness Monster haggis. (Sorry, that’s everything we know about Scotland.)
Only 60 bottles were ever made, created to mark the Queen of England’s Silver Jubilee in 1977. It’s a blend of at least one-hundred-year-old cognacs, so don’t dismiss it as a n00b. Instead, sip it knowing you’re enjoying a beverage endorsed by both Queen Elizabeth II and Tupac.
What this booze lacks in notoriety, it makes up for in being damn near impossible to find. Only three bottles of this cognac were ever sold -- the owner of A.E. DOR kept a bottle for himself and gave the rest to the French president, because he hates America.

"Our hearts go out to the families and friends who lost loved ones and to all those who were injured. Our family is grieving along with all those who have been affected by this enormous tragedy. No words can truly express how heartbroken we are. We are in a state of disbelief and trying to find whatever answers we can. We too are asking why. We have cooperated fully with law enforcement and will continue to do so. Like so many of you, we are saddened, but struggling to make sense of what has transpired."

Yesterday at 2:27 pm – just a couple hours after the shooting in Conn. was first reported – an account called @CTNewtown was created. The account's first tweet claimed it would donate money to Sandy Hook elementary and the victims for every retweet. UPDATE: The twitter account was deleted on Saturday night, shortly after this post was published.
She got engaged to the son of her manager last night. It's only happy songs from here on out, right?

Kelly Clarkson announced her engagement to Brandon Blackstock, a talent manager and son of her longtime manager Narvel Blackstock, in a tweet today.
Congratulations, Kelly!
Hopefully this marriage will be long and happy, but not get in the way of her coming up with new songs about overcoming relationship disasters. She is really, really good at that.

Well, that's not their version of the story. But it's one way to use it!

A press release from Snapchat just announced the company's plan to add video to the probably-about-sexting app for teens:
“How this works: Instead of toggling back and forth between a photo and a video setting, we’ve combined them into one button. If you want to take a photo, just tap the button. If you want to capture video, hold the button down. When you’re done recording, lift your finger. Video snaps are up to ten seconds long, and like photo snaps, can only be viewed once in the application.”
As Snapchat explodes in popularity — more than 50 million images are being sent every day, and the company recently raised at least $8 million in backing — CEO Evan Spiegel appears to be just as delightfully and willfully averse to acknowledging his app's connection to sexting as ever, telling GigaOm: “Video for Snapchat is really going to double underline what we’re all about. You get to share these really raw, really engaging moments. It’s such a crazy, powerful medium. Because it’s totally okay to be yourself and hear how awkward you are.”
The update does, however, include a "friending" mechanism, wherein users have to accept friend requests from each other before being able to send each other snaps (whether pictures or, now, videos) — previously, users could send snaps to random usernames. Still, the app remains insecure as ever, even among friends (and the only thing worse than a motionless sext is a moving, audible one), but Spiegel is acknowledging as much: "We don’t want to get into an arms race with really clever people. Which is why we’re not advocating ourselves as a secure platform. We’re not for like, CIA documents,” he told GigaOm. Yessss. All those CIA documents lying around sexily, waiting to be Snapped.
Don't blink. You might miss him.
The video is curiously choppy, but numerous news outlets confirm this isn't a feat visual trickery. James Gallaugher is just that fast.
According to the Melbourne Herald Sun, Gallaugher ran the final leg of the 4x100 meter race in 11.72 seconds. For the sake of comparison, the fastest anchor leg ever in the 4x100m is 8.70 seconds, set by Asafa Powell during the 2008 Olympics. His coach, Scott Richardson, thinks Gallaugher is on a path to rack up gold medals one day.
When I talk about him with my wife and my family, we just say he is going to be the greatest sprinter we have ever had if he keeps improving at the rate which he is.

His personal bests in the 100 meter and 200 meter sprints are the best in his age group in any country, not just Australia. His 200 meter record of 23.76 seconds is less than four seconds off Usain Bolt's world record. Did we mention he's 12 years old?

...but never mind that.

Of course it's a fashion ad.

New Now Next noticed that the billboard near their office alternated between the two surprisingly different ad campaigns.
He doesn't look or sound so good.
Wut?
I wonder if he's got a contract with Nike?
If he doesn't, Champs will be notified PDQ.
Ad agency: Zambezi, Venice Beach.
Well, we can't prove this. But after Richardson carried an entire team on his back into the end zone, it certainly seems possible.
