Luckily, nobody was killed (though two were injured) and the shooter is now in custody. But the post is chilling reminder of the intense media awareness that is now part of mass shooters' horrible calculations.
Also notable, if the post was really made by the shooter: the use of meme-derived language, which was popularized by 4chan, to talk about suicide.

Since 2011, Mike Stabile, a journalist and filmmaker, has been using Google Maps to mark the locations of shuttered gay bars throughout the city. He has pinned the location of over a hundred bars so far.
Stabile wrote about about his process for The Pop-Up Museum of Queer History:
"I recently began a mapping project of lost San Francisco gay bars using ads from magazines, matchbooks from archives and mentions in gay papers to try and reconstruct San Francisco in the years before the epidemic. What struck me most is that —in a far more hostile era there seemed to be far less ghettoization. [...] With greater social acceptance (and Grindr) we're losing the crucial spaces that helped define us our culture. It may be inevitable, but forgetting them is not."
