Aaron Hernandez Listed As Key To Patriots Offense In "USA Today" NFL Preview
The next time an old person starts complaining about the decline of newspapers and magazines vis-à-vis “blogs” and “Twitters,” show them this.
On Sunday, Adam Schefter, the NFL Insider writer for ESPN, pointed out that USA Today had listed Aaron Hernandez as the New England Patriots' X-factor in their 2013 NFL Preview issue.

The same Aaron Hernandez that is currently facing murder charges and is possibly linked to a 2012 double homicide in Boston? Yeah, that guy is who USA Today believes will be the Patriots X-factor this upcoming season. But that's not even the worst part.
After Schefter's tweet, a fan noted that ESPN put Hernandez in their preview issue too, even including a huge picture of him in the football uniform he will most likely not ever be wearing again.

Founder Of Digg Caught On Video Flinging Raccoon Down Flight Of Stairs
It was attacking his dog and he sprung into action. He says his dog is OK, but has some claw and bite marks.
Digg founder Kevin Rose was awoken by his dog yelping at 1 a.m. this weekend. He went out and discovered his dog was being attacked by a raccoon.
So he ran down to save his dog.
And flung the raccoon down some stairs.
He said he doesn't encourage violence against animals, but he wanted to get the raccoon "as far away from us as possible."

10 Easy(ish) Steps To Making The Indie Movie Of Your Dreams
Karl Jacob is a writer/director/actor whose new drama, Pollywogs , is in the midst of a festival run, including the Los Angeles Film Fest. Here, he lays out a roadmap for BuzzFeed to making a great movie without a Hollywood budget.
Know who you want to work with, and believe in them
I think this is the most important of all the steps. If you don't have a cohesive team of people who are right for the job, the whole project will be an uphill mess. Making movies is hard enough as it is, when you don't have a good team you won't even get to the hill.
Make friends with people who have money
Let's face it folks, you need money to make your playland a reality, and you're not going to get it done without some. We are not as fortunate as the Europeans to have well-established government-sponsored agencies who hold our hands, so time to break out the Rolodex and call all the doctors, hedge fund managers, and start-up millionaires you've ever met. Explain to them that they might have otherwise blown this money on a trip to Tahiti, and then they wouldn't have been able to come to a star-studded film festival or have an opportunity for a financial return! Find out their favorite movie, and ask what their life would have been like if they never got to see it. Then ask for a check.
Know what you want to make
Some people might have put this at Step One, but you can honestly make a great film with this at Step Three. When we were making Pollywogs, the story was continuing to be formed while we were shooting it. This was part of a larger improvisation and workshop process that spanned seven months. I knew what themes, images, and plot points I wanted to explore from the beginning, of course, but the process of getting to the final story was hyper-collaborative. Granted, having this at Step Two might make the process a little easier, but this'll keep you on your toes.
Build your story to fit your resources, not the other way around
Until you have millions at your disposal and you are making your fifth movie, chances are you're going to need to pull some favors to get your shit done. Why not make it easy on yourself and write a movie that you know you can make. In Pollywogs' case: (Family's) cabin on a lake: Check. Boats: Check. Giant jumping cliff on public land: Check. A Canon 7D camera (owned by me and Jenny Prediger): Check. A small and extremely supportive community that is filled with great cooks and timely with meal deliveries: Check. You'll still have plenty of problems to deal with without having to negotiate with a disgruntled location owner about shooting past your scheduled time.

Men's national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann made waves last month by keeping Landon Donovan off the roster for the World Cup qualifying games in June. Klinsmann wanted Donovan to prove he's still interested in soccer and has the physical tools to play at a high level. Yesterday, the greatest player in USMNT history single-handedly dominated the quarterfinal game against El Salvador and silenced his critics like a boss.
The 31-year-old midfielder recorded three assists and a goal to lead the USMNT to a dominant 5-1 win. He helped get the U.S. on the board in the 28th minute with this excellent pass through traffic to a wide-open Clarence Goodson.
