Bottos, a photography major and gender studies minor, runs a Tumblr page where she often uploads selfies as well as pictures of her work.

Since starting the Tumblr in 2010, she has received hundreds of cruel anonymous messages. Last week, she turned the words of hate into a feminist art project; Bottos screencapped some of the messages and posted them over pictures of herself.

The Tumblr post, called "Anonymous," is a work in progress, she told BuzzFeed. But it nonetheless quickly went viral, garnering over 85,000 notes and drawing in about 20,000 new followers.

The description of the post on Tumblr reads:

Some new stuff I'm working on, I get tons of anonymous messages like this every day and while this isn't unique to women, the content of the messages and the frequency in which I get them are definitely related to my gender. I almost exclusively get them after I post selfies. The authority people feel they have to share their opinion on my appearance is something myself and many other girls online deal with daily.

Esurance Will Give Away $1.5 Million On Twitter Tonight

Using the #EsuranceSave30 hashtag after the Super Bowl will count as an entry to potentially win $1.5 million. It’s the biggest sum of money ever given away on the social network.

Actor John Krasinski announcing Esurance's Twitter giveaway.

Running the first TV commercial after the Super Bowl is 30% — or $1.5 million — cheaper than buying one during the big game, according to Esurance. So the auto-insurer is giving that sum away to one random person who uses its #EsuranceSave30 hashtag on Twitter tonight in the social network's biggest-ever monetary giveaway.

John Krasinski, who's done voiceovers for Esurance commercials since 2011, will appear for the first time in one of the company's ads tonight to announce the sweepstakes, Esurance told BuzzFeed. The pitch is that Esurance literally passes savings on to its customers, whether it's through a contest or its auto insurance.

Anyone who uses the hashtag between 4 p.m. EST today and 4 a.m. Tuesday will be entered, regardless of what they actually say in the tweet, the company said. Every tweet counts as a separate submission, and there isn't a cap for how many times a person can enter, but they have to have a public account. Automated tweets will be ineligible.

Twitter has been working with marketers for months on Super Bowl campaigns, even offering them free consulting to lock down advertising dollars in the future, the Wall Street Journal reported last week. The newly-public company is aiming to show investors it's more than just a free vehicle for advertisers to promote their brands.

The auto insurer, which paid for sponsored tweets tied to the contest, said that it chose to run the sweepstakes on Twitter because it's the "the simplest, most modern means available," citing the millions of users on the network.

Esurance's contest would indicate a 30-second Super Bowl ad costs $5 million, though it's been reported the average commercial slot has gone for ("just") a record $4 million this year.

The winner will be announced Wednesday on Jimmy Kimmel Live. It's only open to U.S. Twitter users, excluding Alaska and Hawaii, based on sweepstakes laws. Esurance said it anticipates millions of tweets.

What To Watch On Sunday If You're Not Into The Super Bowl

Instead of watching the Denver Broncos battle the Seattle Seahawks, you could spend the day with Betty White, Sherlock Holmes, Rick Grimes, or a litter of puppies. All times Eastern.

Yes, nearly everyone you know will be spending Feb. 2 elbow deep in seven-layer dip, either watching the Broncos and the Seahawks go head-to-head in Super Bowl XLVIII, or knocking back beers while ignoring the game and waiting for commercials.

But if neither of those things interest you, dozens of other networks are offering plenty of Super Bowl counter-programming options.

Here are your best bets for a still super, but non-football Sunday television experience:

The Walking Dead

AMC

Why: Because there's more testosterone in one episode of The Walking Dead than there is in the Seahawks' entire starting line!
When: 10 a.m.–12 a.m. on AMC

National Congress Of American Indians Releases Anti-"Redskins" Ad

“Native Americans call themselves many things. The one thing they don’t” is the name of Washington’s football team, the ad says.

On the eve of the Super Bowl, the National Congress of American Indians has released an online commercial, the latest show of opposition to the Washington NFL franchise's "Redskins" nickname.

In the two-minute video, images of American Indians are shown while a narrator lists the names they use to refer to themselves: proud, forgotten, Indian, Navajo, Blackfoot, survivor, Jim Thorpe, mother, father, underserved, among others.

"Native Americans call themselves many things," the narrator says, adding: "The one thing they don't?" as an image of the Redskins helmet is shown on the screen.

The video's release comes after the Oneida Indian Nation met with human rights representatives of the United Nations in New York last week tto discuss the name.

"We discussed the hope that Washington's team might take the concrete step of eliminating the continued usage of the R-word epithet as a sign of their commitment to opposing racism and discrimination, rather than continuing to profit from the offensive brand," Oneida Nation representative Ray Halbritter told USA Today.

At a pre-Super Bowl news conference Friday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell declined to answer a question that asked him if he would call Native Americans "Redskins" to their faces. Think Progress reported that Goodell said the team "has presented the name in a way that…has honored Native Americans."
