This Is How An Ordinary Wedding Photo Ended Up On The Cover Of Pulp's "Different Class" Album

The most famous wedding photo in rock .

Ever wondered who the people getting married are on the cover of Pulp's Different Class record?

Ever wondered who the people getting married are on the cover of Pulp's Different Class record?

Wonder no more: they are Dom and Sharon O'Connor and the picture was taken at their real wedding in Molesey, Surrey, in August 1995, surrounded by life-size cutouts of Jarvis Cocker and the band. So how does an otherwise ordinary wedding find itself on the front cover of a seminal 1990s album?

ecx.images-amazon.com

When we got married and we were putting the wedding together ourselves, we pulled a lot of favors from people we knew and we both worked at a publishing company that ran a car magazine. Sue managed to get a couple of cars, we got all the printing done fairly cheap.

My little brother Ben went to art college in Edinburgh and he made friends with a guy [Donald Milne] who subsequently became a photographer and had done a lot of work with the Britpop bands, I think with Blur and Elastica and of course Pulp.

We asked him a couple of months before whether he would be prepared to do some photos for us, and he couldn't actually do it because he said he was busy working on some Pulp stuff.

But he phoned us about a week before and said Pulp were thinking about using some photos with real people, including a wedding photo and if we'd do some joke shots with him and bring some life-size cutouts of the band, but he'd do some proper wedding shots for us as well.

And that's basically what happened. They rocked up with the life-size cut outs of the band and took the photos, the rest is history.

Dom told 6 Music: "At the time we didn't get anything. Life just went on. But they got back in touch when they reformed, Rough Trade got back in touch so we did come to a proper agreement with them, but it was pocket money really.

"But it's such a nice thing, it's our wedding day, you don't want to ruin it (by arguing over money), but it's a really nice cool thing, so we're happy to have the memory."

Plus, Jarvis sent the couple a signed copy last year, with the message: "Thanks very much Dom and Sharon for letting us crash your wedding."

Braves Spokesperson Beth Marshall told 11Alive News it happened because of new pyrotechnics. For the first time, they put pyrotechnics on Braves Vision (that's the large HD screen). One of the pyrotechnics flew at the flag and lit it on fire. Marshall said the material of the flag is flame retardant, so it went out on its own.

30 Things You Never Knew About Circuses

$

As it turns out, the elephants you see in circuses aren’t having as much fun as it seems.

1. In the 19th century, P.T. Barnum sent his associates to Sri Lanka to catch elephants to bring over to New York. Written accounts from the 1850s say the elephants were tied up with nooses for the 12,000-mile journey.

2. Countries like Bolivia, Peru, Greece, Cyprus, Paraguay, Colombia, Netherlands, and Slovenia have banned the use of wild animals, like elephants, in circuses.

3. Bolivia was the first country in the world to ban animals in circuses.

4. Elephants that live in captivity live almost half as long as wild elephants.

5. Elephants walk up to 50 miles a day in the wild.

6. In circuses, elephants spend most of their lives either in chains, or traveling inside boxcars.

7. Even compared with zoo enclosures, minimum guidelines for circus cages and pens provide a lower amount of space.

8. In circuses, elephants are often housed singly, even though they are incredibly social animals who travel in herds.

9. This can have significant negative consequences for their behavior, welfare and reproduction.

10. Captive elephants often exhibit aberrant behavior such as rocking back and forth or swaying from side to side due to trauma.

43 Things We All Think When Using LinkedIn

$

Where hope goes to die.

1. Eureka! There is one last place I can look to dig up information on a particular individual I fully admit to stalking — to the LinkedIn we go!

2. And here they are. Yessssss. Click!

3. Oh shit. Oh shit. Am I going to show up as having visited their profile? Too late now.

4. Who is this person requesting to connect? "...has indicated you are a friend?" Um, no.

5. OK. I know this is an automated option — "Since you are a person I trust, I wanted to invite you to join my network on LinkedIn" — but still... how do you know you can trust me? I don't even know you! Don't you know I'm loco?

6. Wonder who has visited my profile lately...

7. "Someone in the film and entertainment industry in Los Angeles"??? Who is it? OMG it's probably Harvey Weinstein. Or someone else who wants to give me a billion dollars. Clearly.

8. Just kidding. It's probably someone boring.

9. But seriously, where's the secret button that gives you your dream job? I'm looking, but I don't see it.

10. Well, while I'm here, I might as well read this Fast Company article.

11. Oh! And this Business Insider article on the pay gap for female employees. Man. That's some unfair shit.

12. What other articles do they have? NPR: "Why Women Don't Ask For More Money." Ohmygodddddd being a woman is the worst.

13. Wait, how have I spent the past two hours on LinkedIn?

14. Who else has visited my profile? In other words, who thinks I am an impressive human being?

15. My ex from five years ago? Awkward! Go away!

16. Now... be very careful and do not accidentally click that profile. OK, good.

17. "143 more people viewed you"?!?! I must know the people.

18. LinkedIn is probably just saying that to make me feel good about myself.

19. But then again... maybe I should pay for that upgraded membership? Just to see? And cancel it right after? If it's like $3.99, then it's worth it.

20. They bill ANNUALLY? Oh, hell no.

21. Will this site ever help me?

22. It's probably good to be on it. To network and stuff. You never know.
