Sunday night people all across the world witnessed the supermoon, the largest and closest full moon of the year.

The "supermoon" phenomenon occurs when the moon is near the horizon.

The moon is 14% closer and 30% brighter than other full moons of the year, according to NASA.

John Key “is about to get f***ing fried as!”

A video of young men burning a huge wooden effigy of New Zealand Prime Minister John Key has sparked finger pointing and recriminations less than six weeks from the country's election.

The video shows young men, some wearing Guy Fawkes masks, dousing the Mr Key pyre with lighter fluid and then setting it alight, chanting "FUCK JOHN KEY!"

One person in the video can be heard saying, "At least John Key's giving us one thing, and that's warmth. Warmth for the next... 10 minutes."

Another says, "(Key) is about to get fucking fried as."

It was posted to the WhaleOil blog late yesterday and can be found on YouTube.

Mr Key went on New Zealand's Breakfast program to link the video to the new Internet Party whose founder is Internet entrepreneur, Kim Dotcom.

"I just think New Zealanders will just sort of say that's not the way we do politics in New Zealand, it may be the way that Kim Dotcom wants to do things," said Mr Key.

He later clarified that he first saw the video on the Breakfast program and he thought the chanting in the video was similar to some catchphrases of the Internet Party.

Johanna R. Scarpitti certainly had a sense of humour.

It's never easy writing a loved one's obituary. But it's easier if you can include a longstanding private joke.

The obituary of Johanna R. Scarpitti, who was from New Castle in Delaware and died aged 70, began with "Ding dong the witch is dead" when it appeared in Delaware's The News Journal last week.

The Oz theme was even extended to dressing her body in black and white stockings and ruby red slippers, like the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz.

That was something between us and there was nothing that was going to stop me... Even if I ended up getting bad reports and people going against me, it had nothing to do with them. This is something she wanted me to do so I did it.

Ding dong the witch is dead, but the memory of our mother lives on. Johanna Scarpitti, age 70, of New Castle, DE, passed away unexpectedly August 1, 2014 at her summer home.

Johanna was a kind-hearted woman; a loving mother and wife who spoiled her grandchildren without complaint. She was sweet with a side of zest. Johanna loved the beach, boating, kayaking and that incredible drink from The Lazy Lizard. She will be incredibly missed by all who knew her... [a] whole bunch.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joseph; her children: William Scarpitti, Nicole (Vaughn) LeSage, and Assunta (Mark) Lucy; and grandchildren: Jacquelyn (Sean) Rash, Nathan, Dylan, Cathryn, Anna, Gillian, Joseph, Bryan and Courtney.

Although she had been ill, her death came as a shock to the family. Lucy had to find the slippers online to fulfill the promise she'd made. She told the newspaper she felt "fulfilled" by carrrying out the request.

Last week, Donnie McGilvray‎ claimed he proposed to his girlfriend using Coca-Cola bottles, spelling out: "Beautiful" "Eloise" "Will" "You" "Marry" "Me". He then shared this photo of it on the Coca Cola Facebook page.

Although the words on the Coke bottles are unavailable to order on the Coke website, many people are using photoshop to create their own personalised bottle labels, such as the "Mambo Number 5" Coke bottles that went viral last week. It is unclear if McGilvray printed off his own labels or digitally altered the image.

The original photo has since had over 1 million "likes" and 50 thousand shares on Facebook, and the comments underneath the photo suggest that many people found the proposal very romantic.

A day later, Coca-Cola responded to the photo with this image congratulating the newly engaged couple.

This is one brave boy.

James Barney Jr. is not your average nine-year-old boy.

Here he is revealing how he fought off an attack by an alligator while swimming in East Lake Tohopekaliga in Florida last week.

Speaking to members of the press from his bed in Arnold Palmer Hospital, in Orlando, James said at first he thought it was just someone playing with him.

I reached down to grab it and I felt its jaw, its teeth and I didn't know what to do so I immediately reacted and hit it a couple of times.

It then let go a little, finally I had enough strength left to pry its jaw open a little and it was slipping and that's how I got the scratches.

Then it finally let go and I swam to shore while yelling 'help' and finally some people came over and pulled me in.

James was left with 30 scratches and teeth marks.

Dr Ross Morgan from the hospital said: “The alligator bit him several times it looked like it was trying to get a hold of him, so it bit his leg, backside, abdomen, 30 different teeth marks of varying degrees. And scratch marks of claws.”

James revealed that when doctors removed a tooth from his body he said: “Ohh I want to put it on a necklace so than I can tell all my friends.”

“I was scared I was going to drown him in tears.”

Walker Colt Pruett weighed just 1lb, 3ozs when he was born at 26 weeks in April of this year.

His parents, Erica and Jared, had to wait five days before they could hold him at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and were only allowed to spend 45 minutes with him each day.

In total, Walker spent 80 days in the neo-natal intensive care unit before he was allowed to go home.

During that time Erica and Jared decided to keep a daily blog of their son's progress in hospital.

His time in the NICU was also captured by photographer Deneen Bryan, the founder of non-profit organisation Capturing Hopes Photography.

The company provides professional photography for families of children in hospital free of charge.

Using the pictures, Bryan created the timelapse video above of Walker's first 80 days.

Erica told Martinsville Bulletin: “She [Bryan] was excellent to us. She actually chose him as one of her ‘100 day babies,’ because he was so little that they were estimating he would be (in NICU) around 100 days."

When a police officer in Ibiza made a routine traffic stop, he didn't expect there to be six people having sex inside.

As the Diaro de Mallorca reports ( via The Local), that's exactly what he found.

A full-blown orgy was taking place in the nine-seater van, but the revellers – who were all Swiss tourists – weren't arrested for having sex while on the move but for not wearing their seatbelts.

Each offender was fined €200, but this was reduced by half in return for "prompt payment", the Diaro de Mallorca reported, and were then sent on their way. Police reportedly said this was hardly the first time they had caught people having sex in cars, but this may be the first time they'd been caught while moving.

The driver, who was stopped on Playa de'n Bossa last Wednesday, tested negative for alcohol after taking a breathaliser test although he was warned for his reckless driving.
