Grab some tissues for this one.

On Saturday, while performing "Over You" in Corpus Christi, Miranda Lambert reached out for a fan in the crowd. By the time she let go she was visibly upset and crying.

The young fan was Brooke Hester, a 7-year-old girl who is currently battling stage 4 cancer.

After the country star let go of Hester's hand she was unable to finish the song, instead allowing the crowd to do so for her.

"Brooke goes wild singing along with Miranda Lambert's energetic songs, and later in the performance when she sang her favorite one, the 'Little Red Wagon' song, Brooke wanted to get down (from her mother's hold) and dance as she belted out each lyric with all the swagger and strength the song inspires. I remember Brooke kissed my cheek (as if I had any credit for the evening whatsoever) and said, 'Mommy this is the best night ever!!!!'"

Durex Thailand has issued three apologies, all in Thai. One is below:

The rough English translation of the apology says there was a "misunderstanding" with the text of the ad, and that it's been deleted and that there was a miscommunication.

Virgo Health, Durex Global's PR company, also apologised, but Durex Global is only referring to it as a "Facebook post" rather than an actual advertisement.

In a statement to Forbes, a Virgo Health account manager said: "We do not wish to discuss the source of the data in the Facebook post as it was misused in an offensive way and we do not want to give further publicity to the data or its source."

What Type Of TV Show Is Your Life?

Your Facebook News Feed Is About To Get More Timely

Facebook is updating its ranking algorithm to determine which stories are more important in a given moment than others.

Valentin Flauraud / Reuters / Reuters

Facebook is rolling out a small update to its News Feed algorithm today that will prioritize and rank timely, "trending" posts higher than they were before.

Now, Facebook stories from friends or Facebook pages that are tied to trending topics on Facebook — such specific movies, actors, and news events — are more likely to appear higher in news feed. Facebook stories that are tied to trending topics have slightly higher engagement than other stories, Facebook software engineer Erich Owens and engineer manager David Vickrey wrote in a blog post detailing the update.

Facebook

"We've heard feedback that there are some instances where a post from a friend or a Page you are connected to is only interesting at a specific moment, for example when you are both watching the same sports game, or talking about the season premiere of a popular TV show," Owens and Vickrey wrote. "There are also times when a post that is a day or two old may not be relevant to you anymore. Our latest update to News Feed ranking looks at two new factors to determine if a story is more important in the moment than other types of updates."

Facebook will also track when people are liking and commenting on status updates, and take that into account when ranking stories in News Feed. If Facebook users are liking and commenting on a News Feed story very quickly, the story will be ranked higher. Likewise, if the rate at which users like and comment on the story starts to decline, it will be ranked lower. This also affects which stories that weren't initially seen are "bumped" to the top of a user's News Feed.

"This is one more way that we're working to identify timely posts so we can show them nearer the top of your News Feed sooner," the pair wrote.

In theory, this move should help to boost news content on Facebook but, as always, the content a user sees in News Feed will continue to be dependent on the content that user's friends and Pages post. So while it may be a bit more likely to see news higher in your feed, polarizing stories that — think back to last month's breaking news in Ferguson — may not necessarily share well may still be harder to come by.

The company said it would be rolling out changes gradually to its user base.

8 Russian Cats Who Support Scottish Independence

Scots living outside the country aren’t eligible to vote in the historic independence referendum. Neither are cats. But that doesn’t mean they can’t have opinions.

Russians have a lot of thoughts about Scotland's independence referendum, with pro-Kremlin officials using it as a way to propagandize the independence referendums they have been pushing in parts of Ukraine.

instagram.com

And then there are cats. Russian cats of Scottish heritage have taken to Instagram to share their own opinions and feelings.

"Friends! The referendum on Scotland's independence takes place September 18, 2014. But few know that there are many Scots among us in Russia and they'd also like to have their say! Give your cat the opportunity to support her homeland in the difficult struggle for freedom — support Scotland. Be William Wallace! Freedom! Scotland! #freedomscotland P.S. Don't forget to hashtag and tell your friends"

instagram.com

They're quite vocal on the issue.

"Stepan made his choice! #YesScotland #freedomScotland #VoteYesScotland #voteyes #ScottishnotBritish #independentScotland #Scottishindependence #referendum #catsforfreedom"

instagram.com

As vocal as cats can be, that is.

"In connection with the coming referendum #freedomscotland"

Cronus swallowed all his children after they were born because he was paranoid about them usurping his throne. (Zeus' mom saved him by swaddling a stone and tricking Cronus into swallowing that instead.)

As an adult, Zeus slipped Cronus an emetic that made him vomit the kids back out, including Hera, whom he married.

Dewey Reagan, president and general manager of Reagan Outdoor Advertising, said rejecting the ads does not reflect the company's or any of its employees' position on the topic.

"It was a business decision based on structural realities of our business," Reagan said. "We don't actually own the majority of the land underneath the signs where our billboards are located. They are there pursuant to land lease agreements and some of those specifically prohibit display of ad copy that is controversial."

Instead of potentially angering landlords, the company made the decision to say "no thanks" to the "God Loves Gays" ads, he said. When asked by BuzzFeed News, Reagan explained that the company welcomes LGBT diversity and emphasized it is an equal opportunity employer.

And YESCO — or Young Electric Sign Company — issued a written statement via email regarding its decision to not carry the ads:

"As a privately owned company, YESCO carefully evaluates all requests for advertising placement. We avoid accepting advertisements that are interpreted as advancing sensitive religious, social, or political interests."
