Kenny G Visits Hong Kong Protests, Striking Sour Note With Authorities
The saxophone player is wildly popular in China. Government officials took the opportunity to remind everyone that they think the protests are illegal.
Kenny G, one of the largest-selling instrumental musicians ever and an icon in China, visited pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong on Wednesday. The smooth jazz saxophonist just finished a concert tour through the mainland.
Reuters reported that China's foreign ministry – wary of foregin involvement in what it sees as a domestic issue -- cool on the visit:
China's foreign ministry, which has expressed repeated dissatisfaction about what it sees as foreign interference in an internal issue, said it did not know any details about Gorelick's visit.
"Kenny G's musical works are widely popular in China, but China's position on the illegal Occupy Central activities in Hong Kong is very clear," ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a daily news briefing.
"We hope that foreign governments and individuals speak and act cautiously and not support the Occupy Central and other illegal activities in any form," she added.
Kenny G's melody "Going Home" is a mainstay in China, the AP reported. It "can be heard at train stations, department stores, airports, hotel lobbies and over loudspeakers in public parks, and is often used as a signal for people to clear out."

Toys 'R' Us Has Pulled Those "Breaking Bad" Action Figures From Its Shelves Following A Petition

Man Proposes In The Back Of A Police Car After Driving Into A Tree
Things didn’t exactly go to plan.
This is not how Somerset resident Caine Hutchings imagined himself proposing to his girlfriend, Emily Dukeson.
Hutchings, 30, had hoped to ask his girlfriend of two-and-a-half years to marry him while they were walking their dogs along the cliffs at Blue Anchor.
However, while driving to the picturesque spot from their home in Radstock, Hutchings lost control of his car and hit a tree on the A39 near Shapwick, Avon and Somerset police said.
Thankfully nobody was injured in the accident and the dogs escaped unharmed.

"I said I'd drop them and the dogs at the Pipers Inn in Ashcott," Rickards said. "He sat in the back and she was in the front."
It was during that short drive that Hutchings decided he couldn't wait any longer.
Rickards, who is getting married herself next year, said she didn't know who was more excited when Hutchings produced the ring, and said she had to remind Dukeson to give an answer.
Dukeson said yes.
I didn't have a clue that was going to happen. As far as I was aware we were going to Blue Anchor to take the dogs for a walk.
In the car, Caine said "did you really think we were going all that way just to walk the dogs" and pulled the box out.

Starbucks Is Releasing A Chestnut Praline Latte In November
Our long national pumpkin spice nightmare is finally over.
Starbucks has confirmed that they will be releasing the Chestnut Praline Latte nationwide on November 12.
According to a press release posted last week, the Chestnut Praline Latte will be joined by the Gingerbread Latte and a Peppermint Mocha, marking the first new holiday addition to the Starbucks menu in five years.
The Chestnut Praline Latte was released at select locations last year on a test run, so luckily we have some Instagrams of what it looks like.
According to the people who tried one last year, it apparently tastes pretty great.
