When police raided the Chinese businessman’s home, they found a tiger penis, among other exotic animal meat and bones.

The wealthy real estate developer, who was only identified by his surname Xu, organized three trips, with up to 15 friends joining him, to Leizhou in the southern province of Guangdong, China, where he bought a tiger each time for a "huge amount of money" and watched it be killed.
Xu had "a special hobby of grilling tiger bones, boning tiger paws, storing tiger penis, eating tiger meat, and drinking tiger blood alcohol," Xinhua News Agency reported.
He was caught because one of his companions filmed a tiger being killed and dismembered, which was later obtained by police.

Governor Martin O’Malley will commute the sentences of the last four men on death row in the state. Two years after abolishing the death penalty, Maryland will no longer have any inmates on death row.

In a statement, O'Malley said he based his decision on what he thought was best for the public good of the people of Maryland, saying "state executions make every citizen a party to a legalized killing as punishment."
In 2012, Maryland's General Assembly abolished the death penalty, which set off a debate about what should happen to the inmates sentenced to death prior to abolition.
In November, Maryland's Attorney General, Doug Gansler, said he believed that carrying out executions now would be "illegal and factually impossible." O'Malley referenced Gansler's opinion in his statement.
O'Malley said that he met with many of the survivors of the victims of the brutal murders related to the sentences, but did not say in his statement whether of not they agreed with his decision.
"They are all good and decent people who have generously granted me the courtesy of discussing the cases of their individual family members. I am deeply grateful and appreciative of their willingness to speak with me," O'Malley said.
"They have borne their grief bravely along with the additional torment of an un-ending legal process. If endless death penalty appeals were to continue, these family members would, no doubt, persevere through that process with continued courage and fortitude. Of this I have no doubt."
The Governor's decision comes as he is about to leave office on Jan. 21.

Edward Herrmann — star of The Lost Boys and Gilmore Girls — has died, his manager told BuzzFeed News.
"Having valiantly braved months of treatment for brain cancer, Edward Herrmann passed peacefully at 8:30 a.m. today at Sloan Kettering hospital in New York City," Herrmann's talent agent, Robyn Stecher, wrote in a prepared statement. He was 71.
The Tony and Emmy winner had most recently appeared on The Good Wife, ABC's Black Box, and How I Met Your Mother.
While Herrmann was celebrated for his stage work and his performance as Franklin D. Roosevelt in a trio of TV movies, he is, perhaps, most beloved for playing Richard Gilmore, the stern but lovable patriarch on Gilmore Girls.
"Edward Herrmann was one of the finest human beings I've ever met. Besides being a consummate actor, he was kind and funny, fair and honest and always willing to join in the game. We shared a love of acting and of being working actors and I suspect he was secretly grateful for all the opportunity and success he enjoyed ... and deserved. His brother told me Ed never stopped learning; he was always curious. When I think of my dear friend, a phrase comes to mind: 'A hale fellow, well met.' And I am so lucky to have met him.'"
