In his final speech, the outgoing prime minister said there will be “no wrecking, no undermining, and no sniping”, but warned media not to act as the assassin’s knife.

Tony Abbott has made his final statement as the 28th prime minister of Australia.

In his speech, Abbott pledged to make a smooth transition to the new leader, and said he was proud of his government's achievements.

Not once did he mention or congratulate his successor Malcolm Turnbull or deputy Julie Bishop.

Here's what he had to say.

ABC News 24

My pledge today is to make this change as easy as I can. There will be no wrecking, no undermining, and no sniping. I've never leaked or backgrounded against anyone. And I certainly won't start now. Our country deserves better than that. I want our government and our country to succeed. I always have and I always will.

Of course, there's much that I had still wanted to do. Constitutional recognition of Indigenous people. Getting the kids to school, the adults to work and communities safe.

I was the first Prime Minister to spend a week a year in remote Indigenous Australia. And I hope I'm not the last. Then there's the challenge of ice and domestic violence, yet to be addressed.

Australia has a role to play in the struggles of the wider world. The cauldron of the Middle East. And security in the South China Sea and elsewhere.

A Dislike Button Is Coming To Facebook

At a town hall Q&A today, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company is moving beyond the binary like.

Michelle Rial / BuzzFeed

In a live streamed town hall Q&A on Tuesday, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced the company is working on a range of options to let people reply to posts in various ways — beyond merely liking.

Since the "like" button debuted in 2009, Facebook users have been clamoring for its counterpart. Today, Zuckerberg announced that new ways to interact are finally on the way.

"People have asked about the 'dislike' button for many years, and probably hundreds of people have asked about this, and today is a special day because today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it, and are very close to shipping a test of it," he said. "Not every moment is a good moment if you share something that's sad like a refugee crisis that touches you or a family member passes away, it may not be comfortable to 'like' that post…I do think it's important to give people more options than liking it."

Given the nature of Zuckerberg's comments, this was initially widely interpreted to mean that there will be an actual "dislike" button. However, BuzzFeed News has subsequently learned that what is more likely is that there will be a range of options to express varying types of empathy.

Ben

Ben's baking story is like a delicious remake of You've Got Mail. His interest in baking peaked while watched a documentary about macarons and celeb chef Adriano Zumbo. "I just couldn't make them, so I emailed Zumbo and he replied to me. A few emails went back and forth until I could make them properly."

A Mining Inventory Planner from QLD, Ben's determination will be something the other bakers will need to watch out for. "I want to prove to myself that I can bake... I don't see the point in baking something that everyone else can."

Brendan

Brendan

While Brendan works in IT Brisbane, baking has been part of his life since he was 6 years old. "I always wanted to be a chef and even once worked as a kitchen hand but couldn't get an apprenticeship," Brendan said. He then went on to study computer science at Uni, and has been working in that field since.

Away from his desk, Brendan spends hours in the kitchen each day which has obviously paid off considering in 2014 he was awarded 1st place at the Brissie Ekka for his handmade chocolates!
