Note to self: check furniture for treasures.

Meet Allison and Pam Corcoran, a P.E.I. couple who have been married for 35 years. Sadly, Allison's wedding band went missing 10 years ago. They thought it was long gone, it turns out it was under their noses all along.

It was a distinctive ring — a wide, gold band with an engraving inside that read "PC to AC" and "1980," the year they were wed.

Allison, who works with his hands, often took it off so it wouldn't get scratched. When it disappeared they searched high and low, but no dice.

"We thought maybe it got thrown out with the garbage," he told BuzzFeed Canada.

Then, a decade later, Pam got a call from a man asking what year she and Allison had gotten married.

"I was floored," said Pam. "When he said that it was almost like a lightbulb went off."

The man was Dean Sharp, who had recently picked up a lounge chair sitting on the Corcorans' curb in O'Leary, P.E.I.

The ring had sunk into the folds of the chair and remained there all those years, right in their home. But after such a long wait, Pam decided to have some fun with the big reveal.

She asked Sharp not to breathe a word to her husband before wrapping up the ring and placing it under the Christmas tree, marked "From Santa."

"I was really excited but we waited until every other gift was opened and gave it to him very last," said Pam.

"I opened it up and there was my ring," said Allison. "At first I thought it was a ring she’d bought to replace the original ring then I saw the inscription. It was just like a shock to find it back again."

After all that Allison has pledged to keep the ring where it belongs: firmly on his finger.
