This kid is probably the best human being on the planet.
Evan loves cats. After he adopted his own kitty, Macha, from City Kitties rescue in Philadelphia, he wanted to find a way to continue to help the cats they were rescuing. He was only 7-years-old, but he saved his allowance money for several months and donated $46.75 to the charity.
Evan's first letter from 2009, when he was 7
Dear City Kitties,
My name is Evan. I am 7 years old. And guess what? ... I LOVE cats! They are my favorite animals and I got my cat at City Kitties as well! THANK YOU for letting me get my new cat! Thank you, City Kitties.
Sincerely,
Evan
P.S. I get an allowance every week and I chose to make a donation to you. I love that you help cats find homes. I saved this money to help you help cats.

Evan with Calvin, 2010
This cat, Calvin, was adopted by Evan and his family after Evan took an interest in him, buying his portrait at a City Kitties art auction. Evan would come check on the cat, who was living in a foster home. Then Evan set up a sidewalk stand to sell figs from his family's tree to help raise more money in Calvin's name, raising $86, which he donated to City Kitties.
Eventually, Evan's family decided to adopt Calvin, but staged a little surprise for him. They told him that Calvin had finally been adopted and that he should go say goodbye. Evan asked City Kitties if Calvin would be living nearby, prompting them to show him Calvin's new address... his own!

The 2011 Letter, from then 9-year-old Evan
"And a happy new year / Let's hope it's a good one, without any fear." -Happy Xmas, John Lennon
Dear City Kitties,
I hope you have had a great year! I have given my annual holiday donation with this letter. I am inclosing... $97.00! I saved up a lot of money this year! How is Clark Kent? I hope he is getting better! I am so happy that people like you are around to save abandoned kitties from danger! I want to help you do that and I hope other people will help, too!
Fondly,
Evan S.
P.S. Our city kitties are doing great - (despite Macha playing roughly with Calvin and Elsa.)
