This video is from before Steve Jones did everything he could to ruin the American version of X-Factor, but I still like to think of it as a preemptive punishment for the train wreck of a hosting job that was forthcoming.

Chief Of The Catholic League Blasts Nicki Minaj's Grammy Performance

$

Bill Donohue isn't happy with Nicki Minaj's Grammy performance. Here's what he posted on the Catholic League website about it.

Minaj’s performance began on stage with a mock confessional skit. This was followed by a taped video depicting a mock exorcism. With stained glass in the background, she appeared on stage again with choir boys and monks dancing. Perhaps the most vulgar part was the sexual statement that showed a scantily clad female dancer stretching backwards while an altar boy knelt between her legs in prayer. Finally, 'Come All Ye Faithful' was sung while a man posing as a bishop walked on stage; Minaj was shown levitating. None of this was by accident, and all of it was approved by The Recording Academy, which puts on the Grammys. Whether Minaj is possessed is surely an open question, but what is not in doubt is the irresponsibility of The Recording Academy. Never would they allow an artist to insult Judaism or Islam. It’s bad enough that Catholics have to fight for their rights vis-à-vis a hostile administration in Washington without also having to fend off attacks in the entertainment industry. The net effect, however, will only embolden Catholics, as well as their friends in other faith communities.

The ladies of the New York University Republican Club slept over together for Newt. Their fearless leader (back right below) is Andrea Catsimatidis Cox , the daughter of one of the richest men in New York and wife of Richard Nixon's grandson.

Newt Gingrich has a bevy of young female supporters at NYU, a school widely seen as one of the most liberal in the country.

The tipster who leaked the photos of "Newt Gingrich Sleepover" to NYU Local told BuzzFeed that they came from the Facebook of the president of the NYU College Republicans. The sleepover happened about a week ago and looks to have been well-attended.

Source: cdn.nyulocal.com

Reached by email, club president Andrea Catsimatidis Cox -- daughter-in-law of New York Republican State Committee chair Ed Cox -- told BuzzFeed:

Even on a campus as liberal as NYU we have some great conservatives. There is a lot of support for Newt on campus. A lot of college students are drawn to his big ideas that are needed to solve our country's problems. I know these supporters are eager to voice their support and get the word out about Newt Gingrich's bold ideas!

Our club can't endorse candidates but I got together with a couple of friends from the club who share in my support for Newt. We thought it was a fun way to share our political passions. Our club is about working hard to support our party and the country we believe in. We also try to make it fun in th [sic] process. We spent the night discussing Newt Gingrich and the 2012 race against Obama and watching political movies. Overall it was a fun evening and a fun and if I may add creative way to show our support for our favorite candidate.

Busy Philipps Could Have Played Melissa McCarthy's Role In "Bridesmaids"

$
0
0

In an alternate universe, the role of Megan in “Bridesmaids” was played by Kim Kelly from “Freaks and Geeks.” Can you imagine?

Busy spoke to Celebuzz about her audition for the role -- which was not quite as it turned out to be:

“I auditioned for Bridesmaids. I didn’t get it. You can write that down. The truth is weird, I auditioned for Melissa McCarthy’s part – and that’s what’s weird … The part wasn’t defined necessarily as one thing [when I auditioned]. I was doing a very specific take on it, and they really liked it. But I think, ultimately, Miss McCarthy is perfect in that movie.”

Thankfully, she's not harboring too much resentment:

“I was bummed not to be in a great movie with a bunch of people that I’m friends with that also starred all the girls, and made a s***load of money,” she added. “But, what are you going to do? [Laughs] It’s just the way that it is. You have to get over it and move on! [Laughs] I love Paul [Feig]. I see Paul all the time, and I cannot wait to work with Paul at some point in the future … It’s been really fun to see his success from that movie. And I love Kristen [Wiig] so much. I think she’s such an incredible talent. I love her writing partner Annie Mumolo. I’m so happy for them and all their success.”

It's funny: almost every actor from "Freaks & Geeks" -- the set where Phillips first worked with Paul Feig -- has become a big-time movie star. But the ladies -- Phillips, Linda Cardellini, Natasha Melnick -- have yet to strike it big. Here's hoping that next script that Mumolo and Wiig are writing will have a role for Busy in mind, as it's pretty apparent that starring on ABC's "Cougar Town" isn't quite as satisfying as one might think.
