DON'T say your yoga-wear company missed product flaws because it skipped the "bend over" test.

DON'T say your yoga-wear company missed product flaws because it skipped the "bend over" test.

It was a tough year for the high-end yoga-wear company Lululemon, which suffered a serious hit to its reputation after it was forced to recall a batch of its black Luon pants for being too sheer. Chief Executive Officer Christine Day, who will step down next month, made headlines when she described the issue to analysts on an earnings call, saying: "The truth of the matter is the only way you can actually test for the issue is to put the pants on and bend over."

The notion of the "bend over" test raised eyebrows on Wall Street and beyond.

"Just putting the pants on themselves doesn’t solve the problem," Day said on the March call. "It passed all of the basic metric tests and the hand-feel is relatively the same, so it was very difficult for the factories to isolate the issue, and it wasn’t until we got in the store and started putting it on people that we could actually see the issue."

DON'T compare criticism of your employees' bonuses following a more than $100 billion bailout to lynching.

Robert Benmosche, the CEO of insurance giant AIG, really, really doesn't like the politicians who criticized AIG for handing out more than $100 million in bonuses in 2008 following their massive bailout that rescued the company from collapse and eventually added up to more than $130 billion. In an interview in September, he said that the widespread outrage over the bonuses “was intended to stir public anger, to get everybody out there with their pitch forks and their hangman nooses, and all that — sort of like what we did in the Deep South [decades ago],” he continued, “And I think it was just as bad and just as wrong.” He later apologized.

It all started as a way for college students to ask one of JPMorgan's longest tenured and most prominent executives, Jimmy Lee, about "leadership & career advice." People would tweet their questions and Lee would respond using the @jpmorgan Twitter account. The night before the scheduled "#TwitterTakeover," the hashtag was flooded with harsh criticism and snark: "How do you decide who to foreclose on? Darts or a computer program? #AskJPM" and "Do you have a secret jail in your offices so your executives get at least one chance to see the inside of one? #AskJPM" or even "I have Mortgage Fraud, Market Manipulation, Credit Card Abuse, Libor Rigging and Predatory Lending AM I DIVERSIFIED? #AskJPM." After literally thousands of negative tweets, JPMorgan pulled the plug, "#Bad idea! Back to the drawing board!" a JPMorgan spokesman said.

Rand Paul On His Dad's 2016 Prediction: "He’s One Step Ahead Of Where I Am"

Ron Paul may be convinced his son is planning to run for president in 2016, but in a radio interview airing Sunday night, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul distanced himself from his father's prediction.

"He's one step ahead of where I am at this point," the younger Paul said on Aaron Klein's WABC show, a transcript of which was provided to BuzzFeed. "You know, we have thought about it. I've done some traveling. I am trying to figure out how we make the Republican message broad enough that we widen our base and are able to win national elections. But I wont make a serious decision about it probably until after the 2014 elections."

Ron Paul, a retired libertarian congressman who was a perennial presidential protest candidate, told CNN earlier this month that his son "probably will" seek the presidency in 2016. While many see the Kentucky senator as a logical heir to his father's base of libertarian ideologues, Rand has sought with some success to present himself as a more pragmatic politician with broader appeal — breaking with the GOP on certain high-profile national security issues, and with his father on more fringe elements of his platform.

But Paul reiterated in the WABC interview that any decision he makes will be done with his whole family in mind — not just his dad.

"And really there is a lot of discussion," he said. "It's not an easy decision to make. I know I want to be part of making the country better. Getting our economy back growing again. Back to the belief in a Constitutional limited government and balanced budgets. But there is also a toll on your family in undertaking something like this. And so we'll probably not know for about a year exactly what our decision is."

Speaking in Detroit earlier this month, the younger Paul suggested his wife, Kelley Ashby, is less than enthusiastic about the prospect of a 2016 campaign.

"If I'm a very able politician," Paul said. I'll tell you in a year whether I'm able to persuade my wife. Right now, I don't know yet, but I thank you for your interest."

Apple Is Finally Landing On China Mobile

Apple’s unicorn in China has finally been wrangled. And it should please investors, too.

Robert Galbraith / Reuters

Apple has finally inked a deal with one of China's largest wireless providers, drastically increasing its potential footprint in one of the company's most important markets.

China Mobile will start selling Apple's latest generation of iPhones beginning Jan. 17, the company said today, though specific details about pricing weren't available yet. Apple was expected to launch the iPhone on China Mobile eventually, with reports coming out earlier this month that Apple had basically already closed the deal.

It gives Apple access to one of the largest subscriber bases in the world, dwarfing carriers in the U.S. and other countries with more than 760 million subscribers. While Apple hasn't released a "cheap" iPhone, the company's latest generation of smartphones seem to be performing quite well in China.

The deal could potentially add billions of dollars of revenue to the company, which has found itself under scrutiny by investors over whether the company will continue to grow at the breakneck pace that it traditionally has. Since hitting a high of $700 in September last year, the company's stock has dropped off significantly, falling as low as $400 in July earlier this year.

10 Cool Things NASA Did In 2013

As usual, we did lots of awesome stuff at NASA this year. It’s hard not to do cool things when your job description includes “explore space.” You can check out our full list of 2013 accomplishments here , but here are a few of our favorites:

1. We announced that we're going to actually CAPTURE a giant space rock and send astronauts in the new Orion spacecraft to study it. Not a movie. Really doing it.

NASA

2. Voyager has left the solar system. Yes, something made by humans and launched from Earth in the 70s is now in interstellar space. Someone put the Enterprise crew on alert.

NASA

3. Commercial spaceflight is in business, with SpaceX's Dragon and Orbital's Cygnus flying resupply missions to the International Space Station from American soil.

NASA

4. We sent multiple crews from around the world to humanity's ultimate home away from home -- the International Space Station. By the way, it's been up there for 15 years, and humans have been living, working and doing science research there for 13 of them. No sign of Bullock or Clooney yet, though.
