The Ultimate Collection Of Hot Shirtless Navy Guys Climbing A Monument Covered In Lard

This is my gift to straight women, gay men, and people who like pretty things. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

In case you didn't already know, every year the Annapolis Naval Academy freshman class, known as 'Plebes,' climb a monument covered in lard to retrieve the Plebian Sailor's hat and replace it with an officer's hat. The tradition is one step in marking the end of wearing freshman headgear and moving up to headgear more like a U.S. Naval officer.

It is amazing and beautiful.

There are a lot of cool names in the National Football League, but these are the coolest.

Mister Alexander, LB, Houston Texans

When you have the option of going by Mr. Mister Alexander, and your name allows announcers to say, "Mister Alexander sacks Curtis Painter!" then congratulations: you've made the world a better place.

Nicknamed "the Law Firm" thanks to his name — which sounds like it belongs to four people at once — BJG-E also has made a strong career for himself after going undrafted out of college.

Hard to go INCOGNITO when you're a 300-pound professional football player, but forgive Richie for trying.

What better name can you give one of the best football players in the world than "Champ"?

Lolo Jones Is The Olympian Version Of Liz Lemon

Lolo Jones, a 29-year-old U.S. Olympic hurdler, recently tweeted that she's a virgin, and is waiting to find the right guy for marriage. On Twitter she's funny, smart, loves junk food, watches bad reality shows, and is totally self-effacing about her single status.

Source: therealpkc

Jones recently admitted on HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel that staying a virgin has been harder than training for the Olympics, especially as she's gotten older. She's a devout Christian, and wants to wait until marriage.

Unlike another famous virgin athlete, Tim Tebow, who has the personality of a lukewarm cooler of Gatorade, Lolo is funny, charming, humble, and wry. Instead of a brash obnoxious professional athlete, she's like your funniest single BFF whose career comes before dating, and is able to joke about it.

I'm totally charmed. Can an Astronaut Mike Dexter please step forward for this gorgeous woman?

Adorable Corgi Causes Explosion And Fire

Corgis are hot online right now, but this one literally triggered an explosion and fire.

Meet Yogi...

Meet Yogi...

The Pet Collective launched its YouTube channel this month - and quite unintentionally, the producers of one of its first series, Pet Sense, started things off with a literal bang.

On the first day of shooting Pet Sense, L.A. resident Hali Hudson was interviewed for a remote pet reading by animal communicator, Michelle Childerly. Hali’s typically adorable Corgi, Yogi, has a perplexing obsession with cleaning products, and she began to demonstrate that she can’t even open her kitchen sink without inciting a doggy temper tantrum.

Cameras rolling, Yogi bee-lined directly into the cabinet and started attacking everything within snout-reach. Unfortunately, one of the cleaning products was not a cleaning product at all, but was a can of black spray paint, which exploded in a mess all over Yogi and his owner. The results were … explosive. (uncensored version)

Yogi Explosion Explained

No dog or human were harmed, which The Pet Collective confirmed with Yogi's vet. Hali is living proof that a loving and responsible pet owner is still at the mercy of a troublesome pup. Get to know Hali better in this video as she explains the outcome of her corgi-induced kitchen explosion.

Full "Pet Sense" Episode

This was the actual episode of Pet Sense that the producers were shooting - note that the explosion didn't make the final cut of the main ep.

Given that no dog or human was harmed, The Pet Collective decided to share the raw video with the whole of the internets, since it serendipitously helps launch the channel with…well...a bang.

Ben & Jerry’s Pint Combination Lock

How To Fix Phone Calls

$
0
0

It's time for a unified communications app. Everyone's close, but nobody's done it yet. Here's how smartphones should — and will — work.

The basic promise of the smartphone is this: It's a phone, so it can call people; it's a cell phone, so it can send them texts; it's got a data connection, so it can send and receive pretty much anything you can transfer over the internet; it's got a camera, so you can chat via video, too.

In theory, all these things should form a single, total communications channel: a two-way, voice, video, text and data stream between you and the person you're talking with. In practice, we have separate channels for each: a phone app, a texting app, a contacts app, a video chat app. They all reach weakly for one another with little links and buttons, but the experience, at least on iOS, Android and Windows Phone, is still fragmented and siloed. Basic communication on smartphones is a mess.

Sidecar is a new app that builds a single communications channel around Skype-style voice calls. It succeeds in that it convinces you that a single communication channel is a fantastic, almost inevitable idea. In too many other ways, unfortunately, it fails (no real video chat, a broken texting system, etc).

Microsoft-owned Skype, a service with voice, text, video and file sharing capabilities, has a glorified phone dialer for a mobile app. (Its desktop app, on the other hand, is tantalizingly close to a real unified communications channel.) Google, another company with all the right capabilities ready to go, keeps them hidden and isolated in a patchwork of mobile apps and Android features. Apple, whose iMessage and Facetime are already widely used, has let its services strike off in different directions for years now, building only nominal links between them.

Now, imagine an app — probably your contacts app, which you rarely touch now — that treats all communication like messaging. Your recent call list includes your most recent texts, video calls, file transfers and phone sessions. Each contact's entry has an individualized version of this same thing. To text or call or chat with someone is to reenter and resume a continuous line of communications, logged and consolidated and easy to manipulate. Switching from a voice call to a file transfer to a text message to a video chat would be seamless. It might be sort of like this:

MEGA DISCLAIMER: I'm not an interface designer, I suck at Photoshop and I know Apple would never release an app this ugly or cluttered. BUT: this is the kind of functionality I'm talking about. This is the kludgy jailbreak version of what I want, basically.

From this screen, you could initiate any kind of communication with a contact. Instead of hunting for your SMS app or your phone app or your video chat app, you start here. This doesn't preclude other apps from doing anything or everything. It just brings the core, one-on-one stuff — phone, messaging, video chat, photo and file sharing — into one place.

A more realistic implementation might look a little like this:

The Internet—and the world—can end any time, fine by me.

Steve (Blake Boston) will be the linchpin of a new campaign celebrating the partnership between Pepsi’s Brisk iced tea brand and image-sharing service, Imgur, says Agency Spy.

This not-funny image will be featured on social sites and Imgur galleries.

His 15 minutes of fame are in full force. Hopefully(?), it doesn't end up with him dead, in a gutter, his trademark scumbag hat nearby with his own feces smeared on it.

Colin Powell Comes Out In Support Of Marriage Equality

The Former Secretary of State says he has “no problem with it” in an interview with Wolf Blitzer on Wednesday.

According to a clip released by CNN, Mr. Powell says:

"I have no problem with it, and it was the Congress that imposed Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, though it was certainly my position and my recommendation to get us out of an even worse outcome that could have occurred, as you’ll recall. But as I’ve thought about gay marriage, I know a lot of friends who are individually gay but are in partnerships with loved ones, and they are as stable a family as my family is, and they raise children. And so I don’t see any reason not to say that they should be able to get married."
