51 Reasons To Crave A Mint Themed Wedding
All The Great Mad Men Era Volkswagen Ads
Consider this the best advertising course you’ll ever take. 50 ads in chronological order, more or less.
Via brandstories.net
Above are the two main ads that launched the Volkswagen brand in America.
"Lemon" ad copy starts: "This Volkswagen missed the boat. The chrome strip on the glove compartment is blemished, and must be replaced."
It was shocking, to say the least, for an auto brand to call their car a lemon.
What made the ad even more appealing than the shock value, was that the Bug was in fact (and still is) shaped like a lemon.
To say "Think Small" with regard to autos in 1960 was revolutionary.
Most American car ads from the era looked exactly like this.
Bigger was better, the bigger the better.
But Volkswagen never shied away from this startling, risky strategy.
This worked out pretty damn well for them.
VW's ad agency was Doyle Dane Bernbach, with the great Bill Bernbach leading the creative department.
There are about 200 or so 1960s VW ads available online.
I picked my 50 favorites (with a couple of early 1970s executions).

The 10 Most Hated Lesbian And Bi Characters
If you hurt one of our favorite characters, we will come after you.
Shana — Pretty Little Liars
There are many reasons we hate characters. Some of them are manipulative, some of them are obnoxious, and some just mess with characters we love. Shana is less horrible and more annoying — she’s kind of predatory, and almost definitely evil, but she doesn’t even get enough screen time to fill us with hate. Still, her definite sinister-ness gets her a place on this list. (What is she doing with Jenna? Mona? Why is she so secretive!) Plus, she hit on both Paige and Emily while they were dating.

Tim Tebow's NFL Career Is Basically Over
He was let go by the New England Patriots on Saturday, and yesterday every other NFL team passed on him. Tebow took to Twitter to extend his thanks to the Patriots and quote scripture.

Quarterback Tim Tebow, as well known for his oft-publicized faith as for his football prowess, was cut from the New England Patriots on Saturday.
Adding insult to injury on Sunday, and essentially dooming his prospects in the NFL, every other franchise in the football league passed on his minimum salary contract.
Tebow was a Heisman Trophy winner as a college quarterback with the University of Florida and made a big splash in the pros as a backup QB for the Denver Broncos. He never followed through on his initial promise and was traded to the New York Jets, then the Patriots.
A devout Christian and evangelist, Tebow spoke publicly of his religion at every opportunity and led prayer circles before every game. On Saturday, following the news of his ouster from New England, Tebow characteristically quoted the Bible on Twitter.

A London Skyscraper Is Melting Cars With A Solar-Powered Death Ray
The “Walkie-Talkie” skyscraper has been accused of partially melting a Jaguar that was parked in the wrong place. The buildings are fighting back.
London newspaper City AM reports that the skyscraper at 20 Fenchurch Street - commonly known as "the Walkie-Talkie" - has damaged several vehicles parked close to it by melting them with the sun's rays.

The problem is that one side of the Walkie-Talkie - which is still under construction - is effectively a giant curved mirror.

Miami Heat Player Udonis Haslem's Wedding Story Is Strange And Beautiful
The newlyweds walked down the aisle to “2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted” by Tupac. True romance.
On Aug. 24, Miami Heat center Udonis Haslem married his longtime partner Faith Rein after 14 years of dating. Last Friday, The New York Times published a wedding announcement that will warm the hearts of even the most ardent Heat haters.

The couple first met at the University of Florida in 1999, where Haslem, from a Miami ghetto, started for the Gators basketball team. After Rein, who came to UF from a Virginia suburb, dumped her football player boyfriend, she got together with Haslem.
After a few months of being friends, Rein told Haslem he should take her out to dinner. He said he would take her to Popeye's for fried chicken, if she paid. And she did!

A year into their relationship, as Haslem was training for the NBA draft, Rein found out she was pregnant. After careful consideration, the couple decided to have an abortion.
“I am not a huge fan of abortion, but we both had sports careers, plus we could not financially handle a baby,” Haslem told The New York Times.
“Udonis appreciated that I was willing to have an abortion,” Rein said. “I found him caring, supportive, nurturing, and all over me to be sure I was OK. I saw another side of him during that difficult time and fell deeply in love. He had a big heart and was the whole package.”

After college, Rein moved New York City to pursue a career in sports broadcasting. Haslem bounced around the NBA, continuing a long-distance relationship with Rein. He would persuade her to rejoin him in Miami when he signed with the Heat in 2005.
